About Stan

My name is Stan. I am a personal trainer with a background in physical therapy. I am not a physical therapist, nor am I a doctor. In my sports training  education through various channels, I learned how fitness plays a key role in one’s physical and mental health and, more importantly, one's quality of life.

My training experience was launched with a simple class that trained me for the position of Athletic Trainer Aide / Physical Therapist Aide while still in high school.  I learned about anatomy, kinesiology, the prevention of injuries, injury evaluation and professional athletic taping in that class. In that first athletic training class I had some hands on experience working in the training room with all the campus athletes in various sports: football, baseball, softball, basketball and soccer.

After that initial introduction to sports training I was fortunate to secure a position as a paid Athletic Trainer for a high school in Walnut Creek, CA where I covered football, (Frosh, J.V. and Varsity), girl’s basketball, and wrestling.  Around the same time I also volunteered in the physical therapy clinic, Center for Sports Medicine, in Walnut Creek, which is a part of Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco.  There, I learned about dance medicine and Pilates.

Later, I took classes at Diablo Valley College (DVC) in Sports Medicine / Athletic Training and worked in the training room where I was available to assist any of the 200 intercollegiate athletes who needed my help.  While at DVC, I earned a certificate in personal training and fitness.

In the classroom I learned (and witnessed via hands on experience) different training techniques for speed, strength, stamina, and core work.  That is where I sharpened my skill in strength training, such that I can train anyone without using much equipment (and sometimes none at all).

Beyond this, I've worked in gyms, taught core training classes, worked one-on-one with a variety of individuals in both a gym setting and home setting.  I'm both an indoor rock-climbing enthusiast and a bicycling enthusiast.  I maintain a lifestyle which puts fitness first.  I always take the appropriate safety precautions when rehabilitating injured clients.

Basically all you need to get started is some floor space indoors or outdoors and if you are training with me, you are ready to get fit!
